It’s been a long wait out on the east coast, some would even say it’s moving at a glacial pace — slow. Good news is it’s likely to be over shortly. The bad news is all signs are still pointing towards the team being called the St. John’s Ice Caps, so I guess we all better get used to that name.
There were reports that the Jets logo was actually supposed to be unveiled at the same time as the team name and logo were revealed for St. John’s, but the leaked image seems to have forced True North’s hand into action and they had to improvise.
The color scheme will be the same for the Ice Caps as the Jets. The only question mark surrounding the red that is used in the maple leaf on the Jets logo, is that it’s not expected to be incorporated into the Jets jersey design.
The two shades of blue and two shades of gray/silver and white will fit nicely if the team is indeed named the Ice Caps. Even most of the concept designs I’ve seen for Ice Caps use that color scheme. At least the colors will match the concept and I’m sure by mid-season the name will have grown on most.
Rumors are that the name and logo will be announced either on Friday or the early part of next week. The jerseys will not likely be out until the start of the season.
