True North’s Priorities

The other day we sent an email to True North Sports and Entertainment. To our surprise TNSE actually replied to us. Below is the entire content of the email from Scott Brown, Director of Corporate Communications & Hockey Operations.

Thank you for your interest in the return of NHL hockey to Winnipeg.  PLEASE BE AWARE THAT any discussions of a team name are still taking place and a decision has not yet been made. Our first task is the successful completion of the Drive to 13,000 and final approval from the NHL at the Board of Governors meeting on June 21st.  Once that process is complete, we can turn our attention to the team name and logo.

If you’d like to participate in the Drive to 13,000, please visit in order to purchase a season ticket package and ensure the NHL does indeed return to our Winnipeg community. Once again, thanks for your interest; we look forward to seeing you at MTS Centre for the 2011-12 hockey season.

When do you think the Drive to 13,000 will be complete and TNSE will finally have a chance to release a name or engage the public.
