2014 preseason Jets schedule released

Any hockey fan has been eagerly awaiting the release of the 2014-15 schedule. I remember all the excitement of the first season the Winnipeg Jets schedule was released. It was full of some great games to anticipate. And now the excitement can start to increase again as the Jets have released their 2014 preseason schedule consisting of seven games – four of which are at home in the MTS Centre.

The Winnipeg Jets start and finish preseason play at the Hangar with a chance to impress the local fans. What’s additionally interesting are the teams they will play.

Date Opponent Arena Time (CT)
Mon, Sept. 22 Minnesota Wild MTS Centre 7:00 pm
Wed, Sept. 24 Edmonton Oilers MTS Centre 7:00 pm
Sat, Sept. 27 Minnesota Wild (tickets) Xcel Energy Center 7:00 pm
Mon, Sept. 29 Edmonton Oilers (tickets) Rexall Place 8:00 pm
Tues, Sept. 30 Ottawa Senators MTS Centre 7:00 pm
Thurs, Oct. 2 Calgary Flames (tickets) Scotiabank Saddledome 8:00 pm
Sat, Oct. 4 Calgary Flames MTS Centre 7:00 pm

With the exception of the Senators on September 30, all games will be played against Western Conference teams. With the promise of playing each team in the conference three times per regular season, this means Flames, Oilers, Wild and Jets fans will play against each other five times (twice in preseason, three in regular season).

With the preseason schedule released, that means we can start looking at other important dates:

  • Days until 2014-15 schedule release: 25 days released
  • Days until 2014-15 Jets first pre-season game: 95 days
  • Days until 2014-15 NHL season: 105 days

This preseason play could have more of an impact on the regular season for the Jets setting the tone for the upcoming campaign. Do you think preseason matters or is it just a chance to see different players on the ice and a chance to grab some more revenue?
