JETBLAST - Philadelphia Flyers
JETBLAST - Winnipeg Jets

WINNIPEG (7-8-1) at Philadelphia (8-10-1)

12:00 p.m., Wells Fargo Center

TV: TSN Jets, CSN-PH Radio: TSN 1290, 97.5 Fanatic

On February 12th Philadelphia came into the MTS center and took advantage of a really poor performance by the Winnipeg Jets en route to a 3-2 Flyers win. The Jets got both goals from Andrew Ladd although the second came with under 45 seconds remaining and was just too little too late. Philadelphia got goals from Brayden Schenn, Kimmo Timonen and Tye Mcginn, while being backstopped by the impressive play of Ilya Bryzgalov who had been just dynamite for the Flyers coming in. The game was hard-fought and very physical, and Saturday afternoon promises to be the same.

After 2 impressive wins which saw the Flyers score a combined 13 goals they were dominated Thursday night by the Florida Panthers. Ilya Bryzgalov who allowed 5 goals to the Penguins Tuesday in a win surrendered another 4 on just 15 shots before being pulled in the loss to Florida. Bryzgalov is the most important part of this team and he needs to get back into form quickly as he will be the difference between competing for a division title or struggling for a playoff spot for the Flyers.

The Jets will attempt to return to .500 and grab their 4th straight road win in Philadelphia Saturday afternoon. The turn around recently can be attributed to both the improved play of Ondrej Pavelec, and the offense which has caught fire. Led by captain Andrew Ladd who is scoring on a better pace then we have seen of him in a jets uniform and Blake Wheeler who has suddenly come alive after a slow start. The Jets offense has been using their speed to create all kinds of chances around the net and it has been a key to their improved play.

Keys to the Game

Claude Giroux: After a slow start Giroux had picked up his game for the Flyers recently and looks like he is back in form. Everytime the Flyers captain touches the puck he gives Philly a chance to score whether it be a seeing eye pass or quick release laser beam shot. Controlling Giroux and limiting his offensive chances will go a long way to shutting down the Flyers.

Ladd, Little and Wheels: The line of Blake Wheeler, Andrew Ladd and Bryan Little has been dominant offensively for the Jets as of late and it is about time. The Jets who have struggled to get offense this season got a combined 7 points against Carolina and needs to continue scoring for the Jets to keep them in the hunt.

Get to Ilya early: Ilya Bryzgalov has had two rough outings in a row and the Jets would like to see a third. Winnipeg need to get to the net early and often and make it rough for Bryzgalov to see the puck. A little bump here and there may even go a long way to getting him off his game and creating some scoring chances for the Jets forwards.
