Now that the jerseys are unveiled the age old tradition of criticizing them can begin. I for one am pretty satisfied with the design and look, and will be proud to wear it when I get mine. Like the logo, it’ll have to grow on me a bit because like many of you, I’m very attached to the old look. It will take time to adjust to it, but I do think it’s a good design.
They did not go overboard with the tie in to the RCAF like we had thought originally. That’s a good thing because those jerseys are hideous. While the absence of red on the jersey was expected, I didn’t realize how well that would make the red in the logos really stand out. It almost makes the focus on the leaf instead of the Jet. Overall the logo looks a lot better and fits in well with the jersey design.
If I had one complaint about the jerseys, it would be the long blue arm stripe on the away design. For a city that prides itself on white outs during the playoffs, the blue on the white jersey will not make for the same effect. I think if they would have dropped the dark blue stripe and just left the two arm bands, they would have hit a home run.For a website called WinnipegWhiteOut.com, it’s disappointing to see that much color on a prominent place of the white jersey. I guess we’ll just have to hope for white t-shirt sales to soar come playoff time.
Overall it’s a nice look that works with the Jets new logo, the unveiling was done with some style too and was a nice way to do things. As a side note, but an important one as well, if the IceCaps use the same design – which it’s expected they will – it works well for their logo too.
What are your thoughts on the new Winnipeg Jets jersey? Have you pre-ordered one yet or will you wait until they’re available in stores? And of course, now what will the Jets fans all eagerly await and debate about? I’m guessing the 2-weeks until pre-season puck drop.
