St. John’s IceCaps name and logo now official

Well St. John’s fans, it’s now official. The return of the AHL to Newfoundland comes with the St. John’s IceCaps. The announcement coming not long ago from the team’s home ice at Mile One Centre in St. John’s. We’re ~~working on getting a better copy of the logo~~, but for the most part we had some pretty close concepts.

So as a Winnipeg Jets fan and/or a St. John’s IceCaps fan, what are your thoughts on the name and logo?

Of course he’s also behind the only official, unofficial Jets fan gear site. And as if he wasn’t busy enough, a co-host on the popular Winnipeg Jets focused Jets Hockey Podcast.

I initially didn’t like the name when it was leaked about a month ago, but it has since grown on me. Now that it is official, I like it. Around St. John’s, they’re going to be known as the “Caps” in any event… There’s a long local history with that name

I really like the logo. The picture of Newfoundland and Labrador within the mountain is a cool idea.
