Watch out Riderville here comes the Jet Pack

We totally expect to get egged, beaten and stomped on for this comparison but we feel its true. If you’re a Winnipeg sports fan you no doubt know the rivalry between the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Saskatchewan Roughriders. It’s sad but true, Jets fans are a lot like Roughrider fans. Yes, you read that right.

Calm down for a second and read our reasoning behind this crazy argument. After you’ve read it you can then put your argument in the comments.

The easiest way to draw a comparison is by looking at the passion. If you go to any CFL game you’ll find at least one crazy person wearing a Roughriders jersey regardless of whether Saskatchewan is playing or not. Now, go to any NHL game and you’re likely to find someone in a Jets jersey too.

Of course the thing with Jets fans is that they’ve been cheering on their team that hasn’t been in existence for the last 15 years. This fall, that will all change. And while there’s still a long time to wait for the name, and even more speculation on the team name, you can be sure that Winnipeg fans will become just as passionate about the new team as they are the Jets.

As long as there’s no banjos at the hockey games, I think we’re safe to say there won’t be many Saskatchewan Roughriders fans in attendance…though they are easily confused.

UM I’m a Riders Fan and a Jets fan……YES!!!! you can be both!!! I just don’t like the Bombers!!! that doesn’t  make me confused that makes me SMART!!!! and as for banjos…..I bet there are a lot more people in Manitoba who know now to play banjos than Saskatchewan

I live in Regina SK and I’m much more of a Jets fan than a Rider fan. In fact, I don’t even like/watch football very much. I can definitely agree the undivided devotion between the fans for both though, win or lose they’re behind their team. I’m very excited to go to my first Jets game next month, SK loves the Jets as well!
