With only 4 days to go until the trade deadline, what guys are they gonna move? And who does the interest lie with? So close to 3rd place in the conference, you can be sure the Winnipeg Jets will not be trading up yours truly Ondrej Pavelec. At 6’3 and 220 lbs, not too much gets past this young buck as he had the game of his life Tuesday night at the MTS Centre.
Though Claude Noel seems sour after Tuesday’s loss to the Philadelphia Flyers commenting, “How demoralized do you wanna get? There’s another game Thursday, we are gonna have to pick our boot straps up and play”, there is still a great deal of hope for this team that has come such a long way in such little time. From 29th in the league to now just 17th, the Jets have to attribute much of their success to their sensational goalie, Pavelec.
If it weren’t for the poor defence Tuesday night, “Pavo’s” dynamite game of 50 saves would have them on a fast quest to the playoffs; not battling it out against the Toronto Maple Leafs. You can guarantee Pavelec will be getting a pay hike when it comes to his next contract negotiation as he is one of the best damn goalies in the league. So you can bet your bottom dollar if the Jets are going anywhere fast, it’s because Pavelec is taking them there.
However with trades so close, Johnny Oduya may be on the chopping block along with Ron Hainsey, who can’t get the Jets a goal to save their lives. On the other hand, finally Ladd is picking up his socks after a 13 game dry spell; has scored 3 goals in the last 2 games – Captain let’s keep it up.
Just behind the eight ball, Jets must sock away the points to rise up against the Toronto Maple Leafs, whom they are currently tied in 8th spot with, and just ahead of the Washington Capitals. We just need to pick up the pace and keep these teams at bay and take that spot from under them. Hopefully Tuesday’s loss doesn’t set us back from taking out the Tampa Bay Lightning in tonight’s game.
With just 20 games left, if we can hold on to 14 of them, we will be at the front of the line to take that playoff spot. As we were tied with Florida for 1st in the division, we are most definitely a contender for the Stanley cup. Winnipeg we got this!
