It’s Official

The Jets put up a valiant effort but in the end penalties cost them just like they did earlier in the season. The leagues leading goal scorer, Steven Stamkos scored the overtime winner after Tampa Bay tied the game in what seemed like a third period that saw the Jets short handed for most of it.

With a Toronto win over Buffalo the playoff hopes were still there after the loss, but Alexander Semin would score the shoot out winner over Montreal to move the Capitals out of reach and officially eliminating the Winnipeg Jets.

With that 3 games remain in the historic season that saw NHL hockey return to Winnipeg after a 15 year absence. The Jets will play in Florida and Long Island before returning for the final game of the season in Winnipeg against the same Tampa Bay Lightning that defeated them tonight.

It’s time to cheer louder then we have all season, our boys fell short of their goal but exceeded the expectations of many. They have done us proud and these final games will be a farewell to a season that few are ever to forget. The good news is we only have to wait until October to see our boys try again.

Thanks for a great year boys and finish strong. GO JETS GO!
