If you haven’t heard, the former long-time head coach of the Anaheim Ducks, and much beloved Winnipeg Jets Alumni, Randy Carlyle was fired this morning. In his place, the recently fired Bruce Boudreau. For now that means that Carlyle will have to wait for his reunion in Winnipeg, unlike Teemu Selanne who’s expected to return when the Jets host the Ducks on December 17.
What’s possibly more interesting though is the opportunity for Carlyle to gain a position within the Jets organization. Fans are calling for current coach Claude Noel’s head so even the possibility on the coaching staff could exist. In all honesty, it’d be great to have Randy back in Winnipeg, but it’s not a requirement. Keep in mind, this is a new team with new ownership and a new direction. The goal remains the same – win the Stanley Cup!
