The Winnipeg Jets may have suffered a deadly blow when they lost 3-2 to the Carolina Hurricanes Saturday night. There will be no let up in their schedule though as they now go on a West coast road trip against some of the top teams in the Conference. First up, division rivals, the Dallas Stars who are still right in the middle of the race sitting ninth, just a few points away from that last playoff spot. It appears to now be time for the Jets to play spoiler and this is a good team to start against. Lets Go!

Stars

The Dallas Stars had been one of the hottest teams in the league before these two teams last met, that a game, a 7-2 thrashing at the hands of the Jets seems to have leveled them out and they dropped the eighth spot to Phoenix. The Stars will now try to pick up the pieces, put the puzzle back together and make a run to the playoffs. With the goal Jaime Benn picked up this weekend he became the second Star to reach 30, joining Tyler Seguin. The 30-40 goal scorer is the player the Jets need to push them to the next level, and the Stars have two. The Stars a such a dangerous offensive team, they have put up big numbers against the Jets and will be looking to do so again. The Stars look to pick up their third win in the 5 games series between the teams tonight in Dallas.

Jets

The mood in Winnipeg is a little down this week, chests aren’t puffed out so much and water cooler talk has shifted a little bit. After Winnipegs 3-2 loss Saturday it is all but assured that the playoff hopes of this team, and city, are dead for a third straight year. Paul Maurice will attempt to rally his crew and see how they respond. If the Jets play strong they can still finish very respectable in the West, in they throw the towel in they can still finish as low as 24th or 25th in the entire league. It tryout time for some of the Jets young players and 3rd and 4th liners, and some of the older players will be playing for contracts. Lots of interesting stories still surround this and you can bet the boys will still be playing for some pride.

Keys to the Game

Show some pride: These 10 remaining will go a long way to tell us who these young Jets are. They can either fold up and pack there bags early, or stick around and fight it out, finish with some pride.

Spoiler Alert!: Jets chances may be dead but their division rival Dallas Stars are right in the middle of it. The Jets can play spoiler here and help ruin the Stars dreams as well.

Control the Stars ‘Stars': Dallas has a few great goal scorers and if you’re not careful they will put up big numbers against you, just look at the game logs of Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn against the Jets this season. Shut those guys down and you will go a long way to shutting down the Stars.
