Water ritual set to hit the Ice

Can you hear the faint cheers in the distance? They’re getting closer.

Go…Jets…Go!

The return is days away. Soon we’ll be standing proud, singing the national anthem, and honouring the best team in this nation. And in fact, we’re doing more than that—we’re taking the devotion one step further, and in the great spirit of the game, we’re doing something unique with fans: we’re Honouring the Ice.

Budweiser, the proud sponsor of the Winnipeg Jets, is giving the fans something that’s never been done before to commemorate our true devotion to the team, the ritual of hockey, and the game we love.

Jets fans are invited to actually become a part of the first game of the season. Special cases filled with water will be around the downtown core and at the arena this weekend. We’re asking fans to honour the water, and to bestow on it their best luck wishes for a successful season, a winning first game, and of course – the Cup. At 3pm on Sunday before the game, this water, honoured by Winnipeg fans, will be poured onto the ice at MTS Centre, honouring the team and the arena in which they play. This idea was inspired by the long history of ritual in hockey.
