Jets logo just one item on growing “to do” list

There’s no denying just how badly Winnipeg Jets fans are awaiting a team logo and jersey designs. “What is the Jets logo going to look like,” is one of our most searched terms. It’s been beaten to death, with what seems like daily speculation on team colors, designs and time frames for its release. Even big brands like Upper Deck are starting to publicly announce their lack of pleasure in the process.

When you dig deeper however, there’s a lot going on. In a conversation we had with True North Sports & Entertainment (TNSE) on Wednesday about some aspects of the WhiteOut Road Trip, our contact stated “there’s so much going on to transition an organization from an AHL team to an NHL one. All the procedures and policies need to be rewritten.” We get it. Things are going to take time.

While we can appreciate the ever increasing desire to learn what the next Winnipeg Jets jersey and logo will be, there has to be a level of understanding that there’s a lot to do in moving the team from Atlanta to Winnipeg. Yes there are lots of people and departments putting in hours of OT to ensure the 2011-12 NHL season in Winnipeg is a success. As we’ve mentioned before, TNSE is working with very tight timelines to make this not only happen, but happen well.

So while we all eagerly await the new Winnipeg Jets merchandise, take a chance to leave us a comment on how you’re filling your need for hockey in the off season. And don’t forget to enter our contest for free tickets to the Super Star Summer Show Down on August 11 with NHL stars. We look forward to hearing how you pass the time. We’ve been playing a lot of EA’s NHL.
